Winner of Best Wedding Fashion | Junebug Weddings Choice Awards 2019
We are completely blown away to have Emmanuel and Ashleigh’s wedding named as the winner for Best Wedding Fashion in the world in the Junebug Weddings Choice Awards 2019.
While photographing Emmanuel and Ashleigh’s wedding at Emily Moon we knew something extraordinary was taking place. These two are seekers of everyday magic, the kind that makes hearts come alight and alive. Their wedding day felt like a concentration of the passion, creativity and wild love that flows between them. However, the extraordinary aesthetic of their day is no match for the beauty of their hearts.
Manu and Ash are inspired by nature everyday and more so, idolise the sunset. So, using the tones and hues from the setting sun was the main inspiration for their wedding.
“We live our lives in a very neutral colour pallet filled with earthy tones and nature’s influence so our wedding day became an exaggeration of our everyday world that we treasure.” – Ashleigh Derhy, bride
Bohemian Groom and Groomsmen Fashion
Manu’s groomsmen were dressed in shades of brown, accessorised with leather suspenders and leather bowties from And Seek Store. Manu also wore dessert tones, a brown suit and tan shirt from Zara and a cowhide tie. His hat came from The Salty Crown and was adorned with feathers, cotton and dried flowers by his ingenious bride, Ashleigh.
Boho Bride and Bridesmaid Fashion
Along with many of her wedding details, Ash also made her own wedding dress. We weren’t surprised when she launched her own bridal range, Asha Dawn Bridal, after the the overwhelming response she received from her own gown.
Ash’s bohemian wedding gown was made up of a heavily embellished and embroiled gold top with flared cuffs. In addition to her sleeves, her skirt was created by layers of sheer fabric hinting at a fitting embellished skirt beneath as she walked. Together with the subtle sparkle, the fabric created the most romantic movement. She accessorised her dress with gold drop earring from Boa and Luca, and a show-stopping feather ear cuff which she made with her bridesmaid, Sky.
“Emmanuel and I collect feathers. This is how they became so relevant in our aesthetic. We love to see the different colours and characteristics of each one. Furthermore, we acknowledge the life that they have lived based on the various marks or imperfections in each. Manu and I believe that is what makes them beautiful and a reflection of what we all go through.
I have also been drying flowers for some years now and wanted to incorporate that into our day. In fact, I have always struggled with disposing of flowers once they have lived out their days in vases, so was motivated to give them an ever-after. We knew after our wedding the arrangements would live long with the people who were a part of our day.” – Ashleigh Derhy
