Maison Noir is a luxurious villa nestled into the mountains surrounding Cape Town’s Hout Bay. Architect, Paolo Deliperi, designed the spacious home with an eye to compliment the exterior surroundings, incorporating natural light, koi ponds and open-air spaces to create a sense of seamless indoor-outdoor living. Can you imagine a better place to stay (and get festive) with your closest friends and family? Maison Noir presented the perfect hideaway for Patrick and Caroline’s intimate wedding celebration!
Happinest Weddings and Bouwer Flowers teamed up to create an elegant leaf-lined table, laden with blooms, stone candle holders, rust coloured glass and lilac-grey napkins. They hung an incredible flower and leaf installation above the 30-seater. It was without a doubt one of the most beautiful tables we have witnessed!
Slippery Spoon pulled out all the stops designing a 7 course menu for the couple, paired with some of South Africa’s most delicious and experimental Swartland wines. Being wine lovers ourselves we were very excited to see Testalonga Baby Bandito ‘Keep On Punching’ in the lineup. One of our favourite courses was the “two day fermented petit pampoenkoekie doughnut” topped with a beurre noisettes frosting, lobster bacon brushed with home smoked maple syrup and dehydrated thyme confetti, finished with a fermented tomato broth poured around the doughnut at the table. Sounds like a mouthful, tastes like one too!
Caroline and Patrick’s day was lavish yet simple, heartwarming yet fun. It was a celebration of love, tight-knit community, food, wine and design. All the elements that make life beautiful!
“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going to fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.” – Eddie Cantor
