BOSJES Wedding in the Breede Valley
Michael and Rebecca’s held their wedding celebration at Bosjes, an architectural masterpiece surrounded by the Waaihoek and Slanghoek Mountains. It’s no surprise Bosjes has won numerous awards for its chapel. This functional piece of art was designed by Steyn Studio of London to represent the image of love depicted in Psalm 36:7. Its wavelike white curves mirrored in the adjacent water creates a dramatic and serene scene.
Rebecca shares about their BOSJES wedding
Michael and I have such very different taste. He’s definitely a less is more kind of guy and I’m a lover of old-school GLAM. We tried to merge the two, thankfully it turned out beautifully! The one thing we absolutely agreed on was that whatever the overall look of the day was going to be, it had to fit in with the feel we wanted – and that was JOY. The joy of joining our hearts, lives and families. We also wanted the day to feel natural, nothing too over the top or too formal.
We’d known for a while we’d like to get married down in the Western Cape. My one prerequisite was that if we were going to expect friends and family to travel for our wedding, it had to be seriously worthwhile and at a venue with serious views! Bosjes ticked all the boxes! It is such a stunning mix of old and new architecture, with both modern and traditional elements to suit every taste. I knew that it would work perfectly with the combination of Michael’s simplicity and my glam.
We hardly had to add any decor as the venue itself showcases. The mountains around are so spectacular that we didn’t want to draw attention away from the surroundings. The combination of glass, wood, brass, black candlesticks and the rich autumn coloured flowers our florist Pippa from Wildeflower used was a perfect representation of what I had imagined!
Having Erin Turnbull from Happinest Weddings (and her associate Kristin) handled on-the-day coordination made such a difference. We were able to really sit back and relax on the day, knowing everything would run smoothly.
My favourite moment of the day was walking into our reception, looking around at all the faces of our family and friends, seeing their smiles, hearing their cheers and clapping… squeezing Michael’s hand and knowing that this tumult of cheer was for us, in celebration of our forever story. I found it a very emotional moment!
