Grouse Mountain Wedding at Altitudes Bistro
One of our favourite things about being wedding photographers is the wonderful humans we meet. Because, clients become friends! We were immediately drawn into Joe and Joyce’s beautiful blend of kindness and infectious energy when we met them at Rice Lake for their engagement shoot. (Take a look!) We also may or may not have bonded after getting stuck in the park after closing time.
This same exuberance and meaning continued into all aspects of Joe and Joyce’s wedding celebration. From their fun Chinese door games and traditional tea ceremonies, through to their emotional first look, ceremony and reception at Grouse Mountain.
Altitudes Bistro is located on the top floor of the Peak Chalet and boosts one of the best views in Vancouver. It is so vast you can see all the way to the snowcapped peaks of Vancouver Island. The view is even more magical at night, when the city lights are out, the stars are above you, and you’re dancing together to your favourite song.
Joyce shares about their Grouse Mountain Wedding
The inspiration behind our wedding was our love of nature and the outdoors. We felt that Grouse Mountain was the absolute perfect backdrop. We were surrounded by lush forests, with a view of the city and ocean that we love so much. Because most of our guests were from out of town, we wanted them to experience the best that the West Coast has to offer – alpine fresh air, lush green forests and a ridiculous view of the sky turning pink and blue as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.
If I had a pick a favourite moment in our wedding day it would have to be our first dance. It was our first time we were alone together and were able to just be in each other’s arms. We laughed about how awkward it was to have everyone watching us. I will never forget how clear the sky was, and how big and yellow the moon was as it beamed down on the ocean. The whole aura surrounding us was filled with so much love and support, and it was just an incredible experience.
