Gastown Engagement Session
If there was one thing that stood out to us about Steve and Annabelle’s Vancouver engagement shoot, it was the amount of fun we had shooting this beautiful couple on the streets of the city. Steve and Anabelle are originally from Australia and they used to run a karaoke bar – which just goes to show that having a good time is something they really do take seriously!
The joy exuded by this bubbly couple was infectious and we seriously loved capturing their playful affection on camera, with the photogenic city of Vancouver as the backdrop.
The couple chose to have their engagement shoot in Gastown – Vancouver’s most historic neighbourhood which is known today for its cute cafes, a thriving fashion scene, décor stores in gorgeous Victorian buildings and some of Vancouver’s best restaurants.
We started out on a rooftop, strategically chosen for the city views, as well as the harbour and mountains in the distance. From there we made our way down to the streets of Gastown for a Vancouver engagement shoot that showcased the personality of the area – and, of course, the couple! With blue skies and sunshine smiling down on us, we were able to really use light, shadow, and the lines of the city in interesting ways. And we loved the creative process of selecting a wide variety of textured surfaces to shoot against , from beautiful old brick and stone buildings, to windows, fire escapes and tiled walls.
Steve and Annabelle’s radiant faces as they danced on a rooftop, held each other on the corner of a street, and popped a bottle of champagne, say it all. And rounding out our Vancouver city engagement session, we even spotted a beautiful rainbow – a pop of colour to reflect the colourful personalities of this happy couple.
