Brock House Wedding | Jericho Beach | Vancouver
With its north shore mountain views, old-world charm and beachfront location, Brock House was a dream wedding venue for Joff and Jamie to celebrate their union. Their wedding day marked the beautiful collision of two worlds. Represented, not only in the blend of accents and formal wear, but also in their epic wedding favours. Namely, Union Jack and Canadian flag cookies!
Joff spent the morning of the wedding on a yacht with his groomsmen. They sailed from Yaletown through False Creek and out towards West Vancouver. Sailing on perfect summer’s day, surrounded by your childhood friends, with champagne in your hand, well, a swim is pretty much destiny. Tuxes were traded for trunks and of course there was a mandatory diving competition.
Christ Church Ceremony and Brock House Reception
Joff and Jamie said their “I dos” at Christ Church Cathedral in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It is Vancouver’s oldest surviving church and was once the tallest building in the city. Emotions ran high, all the way through the ceremony to cocktail hour on Brock House’s north lawn.
Brock House Restaurant is a Tudor style heritage building, combining elegance and charm with breathtaking views over Jericho Beach to the mountains beyond. This versatile and beautiful Vancouver wedding venue is ideal for both outdoor ceremonies and receptions, and can host wedding parties from 50 people to 180 guests in the garden tent. The garden is flawlessly maintained, complete with a gorgeous and sprawling bougainvillea and rolling green lawns meeting the beach sand.
“We wanted to create a wedding which incorporated different traditions and customs from both the UK and Canada. Since we had a large number of guests from overseas, we wanted to really show off the natural beauty of Vancouver. We chose a simple and slightly west coast theme. Lots of wood and green accent with local flowers. For our table names, as crazy dog owners, we picked family dog names!” – Jamie
Some of our favourite moments from J and J’s wedding
The Yacht
You knew it was going to be mentioned. But, seriously it was such a memorable way for the groom and his groomsmen to spend the morning of his wedding day. (It took a little less time for them to get ready than the bride and her bridesmaids!)
The Wedding Favours
We loved the quirky addition of Union Jack and Canadian flag cookies in Jamie and Joff’s table decor. Plus, edible favours are always a win! They have a way of keeping fidgety guests occupied during speeches and are never left behind. If you’re an expert baker, or have a seasoned confectioner in the family, you could even make your own.
Oyster-Shucking for Canapés
Next to the laidback (but gourmet) mini burgers and grilled cheese canapés, there were waiters shucking fresh oysters during cocktail hour! This was such a unique and interactive experience.
Joff’s self-proclaimed favourite moment on his wedding day
That moment when Joff and his groomsmen were walking to Christ Church Cathedral in their tuxes and tails, and they overheard a tourist saying to his friend; “What are those guys wearing?” To which his friend responded, “ I don’t know… oh wait there must be a Magician Convention on in town!”
The Sunset Over Jericho Beach
Scroll down and take a look! The sky turned all shades of pink and purple. The guests enjoyed uninterrupted views of the sunset over the sea from Brock House’s outdoor reception location. It was the perfect end to the most memorable day!
Jamie and Joff, together, you are set up for a beautiful life! Your love is mature and real, fun and forever young!
